Besides the obvious autumn colors, pleasant weather, wine tasting and various festivals, there are plenty of reasons why Istria in northern Croatia is a wonderful spot to visit in September and October:
1. It’s cheaper
Villa rentals and airfare prices are significantly lower than summer season. Check out Villa Tona for example for 221 NOK per person/per night (fits 8). Pick the airfare of your choice at Norwegian, SAS or TUI.
2. Ideal climate
Weather conditions in Istria are still warm and enjoyable throughout the fall. Day temperatures vary from 20 to 26 C. Bring a jacket for the evening strolls :).
3. Warm ocean
For watersports lovers, the ocean hasn’t had any time to cool down yet. Expect water temperature to be around 22-23 C, so don’t fret dipping your toes in. If you prefer staying home, we have several villas where the pools are heated or have the SPA area like Villa Gianno.
4. Festivals are everywhere
The busy summer leaves plenty of room for local events in the fall. Any foodie will find something to their liking. Love cheese, cured meats or truffles? Pick your favorite fair:
- Zigante truffle days
- Istrian Wine run
- Medulin craft beer festival
- Porec tunalicious street food festival
- St Vincente cheese festival

5. Truffles!
Fall is all about the White Truffle. Enjoy the most expensive food on the planet for a much cheaper price than Italy or France. This delicacy is practically served up in every local Konoba during September and October. Take it a step further and pick the truffle yourself with one of the local truffle hunters who do daily tours (no hunting in traditional sense, more like picking :)).
